„THE HIRED HAND“ von BRUCE LANGHORNE
Ich sah den Film „THE HIRED HAND“ („Der weite Ritt“) unter der Regie von Peter Fonda zum ersten Mal 1982. Ich fand den Film großartig (tu‘s noch immer) und der dazugehörige Soundtrack von BRUCE LANGHORNE hat mich damals voll getroffen. Bruce Langhorne war 1961 & 1963 als Sessionmusiker bei Bob Dylan tätig. Auf „THE FREEWHEELIN’ BOB DYLAN“ und „BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME“.
„THE HIRED HAND“ war nicht sein einziger SCORE aber definitiv seine „bekannteste“ Platte.
Als der Film 25 Jahre später wieder aufgelegt wurde konnte ich ganze Passagen des Soundtracks mitphrasieren. So stark hatte sich dieser damals eingebrannt! Jetzt gibt es diesen auch auf Vinyl. Und „THE HIRED HAND“ ist neben „PARIS, TEXAS“ von Ry Cooder (das davon eindeutig beeinflusst ist) und „PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID“ von Bob Dylan eines meiner Lieblingsalben.
What a vibe!! Recorded on a 4-track recorder in 1970. Released in 1971. Gespentisch gut!
